Horseshoe Casino

Last week, I was invited to a press preview tour of the new Horseshoe Casino downtown, built near M&T Stadium.
Parking is easily available in the adjoining parking deck, and an
enclosed walkway on the second level allows easy access directly into
the casino. The interiors are plush and sharply designed, with dramatic
lighting and carpeting throughout that features interlocking horseshoe
emblems. The space inside feels somewhat vertical, with two floors of
gaming, and a mezzanine level in between that opens onto an atrium-like
space in the center of the casino. This area houses the nightclub/lounge
14Forty. Aside from all of the table games and slot machines
you'd expect, the casino offers several options for dining and drinking,
including larger establishments such as Guy Fieri's Baltimore Kitchen Bar, Johnny Sanchez (a collaboration between celebrity chefs John Besh and Aaron Sanchez), Jack Binion Steak and Ruby 8 Noodles & Sushi. An area designated as Baltimore Marketplace houses walk-up establishments including outposts of local favorites like Heavy Seas Burgers, Tark's at the 'Shoe, Lenny's Deli, B'more Beers and the Mallow Bar.
It was fun to wander around the floor and sample some of the
restaurants' fare before the place is packed with gamblers. But that
will come this week, as the Horseshoe holds its grand opening
celebration and opens to the public.
