Pretty for Preakness Party

Updated: Friday, May 3 2013, 11:20 AM EDT

Cupcake boutique on Broadway in Fells Point hosted its second annual 'Pretty for Preakness' party last night so that local fashionistas could shop for Preakness finery while benefitting a good cause: Ruth's Closet at House of Ruth. Guests sipped cocktails and nibbled on hors d'oeuvres from Cafe Gia and beautiful bite-sized confections from The Vintage Baker while shopping for Triple Crown-appropriate frocks from the store and chapeaux from Hats in the Belfrey. Spotted shopping and sipping were Rebecca Stockton Walder, Jayme Stern (who snapped up a Jill Stuart dress), Tracy Kwiatkowski, and Jessica Kartalija, who co-hosted the bash for the Young Professionals Group for House of Ruth. Boutique owner Lisa Schatz was decked out in a patterned print bouffant dress by Keepsake and a stylish cocktail hat by Christine Moore, official milliner for the Triple Crown. I personally gave a thumbs-up to the mini Lemon Stick-inspired dessert-- a tiny lemon cake with peppermint cream and a peppermint stick stuck on top. That all led to joining my pal Tom Lopez for a stroll two doors down the block and into RYE, where we proceeded to plant ourselves while downing Templeton Rye cocktails and waiting for the ladies to complete their shopping.
