Nurse Involved in Kate Middleton Hoax Dies
The woman who received a prank call to the hospital that was caring for the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge was found dead near the hospital Friday. The body of a nurse who answered the prank phone call was removed from a building near the hospital. Hospital Officials confirmed it was Jacintha Saldanha. Colleagues say, "Jacintha has worked at the hospital for more than 4 years. She was an excellent nurse, and popular colleague."
Two Australian DJ's duped Saldahna making a prank call to this hospital tricking the staff into releasing a medical update on the Duchess. Hospital officals say Saldanha was getting support from the staff following the prank. Police are investigating her death. They say, so far, it does not appear suspicious.
The royal family released a statement saying, quote:
"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Jacintha Saldanha. Their Royal Highnesses were looked after so wonderfully well at all times by everybody at King Edward VII Hospital, and their thoughts and prayers are with Jacintha Saldanha's family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time."
