Beware of Holiday Scams

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 10:12 PM EDT
Tis the season for scam artists to strike.

Law enforcement and consumer groups are reporting an uptick in online crime this December.

"You're at risk during the holiday season for identity theft, for malware being released into your computer, do just the loss of revenue," said Angie Barnett with the Better Business Bureau.

Now, there are a few warnings and ways a consumer can avoid being a target.

Scammers this season have tried to lure consumers with the idea of a quick loan or asking for donations in after a tragedy.

The Better Business Bureau and police warn consumers to question anything out of the ordinary because it's easy to get duped out of your dollars.
