Business After Baseball - Life After MLB for Former Orioles Closer Chris Ray

Being a closer in major league baseball is a high-pressure job only a select few have experienced. Former Baltimore Orioles Closer Chris Ray now has a high-pressure job of a different kind.
Center of the Universe Brewing in Ashland, VA is Ray's 4,000 square foot brewery. It is a dream between he and his brother, who both share a passion for the business.
“We really love what we do, and we hope people love what we do, also,” Co-owner Phillip Ray said.
After paying for arm surgeries when an injured shoulder shut him down on the mound, Chris took the money he saved up from his playing days and his dream became a reality.
"I've always been passionate about beer--that probably doesn't sound good when you're playing professional baseball,” Chris said.
Phillip quit his job as an engineer and the two hired a brewmaster. They say they’ve made a lot of discoveries about the brewing industry – and about themselves.
Center of the Universe Brewing has 100 accounts so far, mostly in Virginia.
For Chris, success is no longer measured in saves – but suds. He told FOX45, “I'm just as passionate about beer as I was about baseball."
