Mugshots Getting Maximum Exposure

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 10:11 PM EDT

Lately mug shots are getting maximum exposure, getting posted and reposted on websites.

However, arrests are far different than convictions. Everyone who is arrested gets a mug shot, whether charges are later dropped or not. Some who appear on these websites have received simple traffic violations.

For those whose mug shots appear on these sites the only way to remove them is to pay. Charges can range from $99 to thousands of dollars. Some are calling it extortion and some states are considering whether to make it illegal to profit from mug shots.
