Preserving John Wesley United Methodist Church

Efforts are under way to help preserve the only remaining African American Church on Deal Island, Maryland.

Stephen White, one of the last remaining residents of Deal Island, and Levin White, one of the church's members have set out on a mission to save the dying church, John Wesley United Methodist Church.
 
With few church members and little money, Stephen White thought of a different way to bring people together - a hymn sing. Stephen also found a roofer that is donating a lot of his time to replace the collapsing roof.

ʚAlthough Stephen was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and has little time, he see the saving of this church as a new beginning. Preserving John Wesley United Methodist Church
