Robberies in East Towson on the Rise

Baltimore County Police say 911 calls for robberies in East Towson have drastically spiked since mid-October.
Since mid-October, there have been 14 robberies called in through the county’s 911 system.
Last week, a woman was attacked and robbed by a group of eight men by a bus stop along Taylor Avenue near Loch Raven Boulevard. The suspects grabbed the woman’s arms and stole a bag that contained a money order worth almost five hundred dollars.
Police say some of those crimes may have been re-classified after further investigation, but that has done little to ease concerns for those who work and live in the area.
Lacey Beard, who works in East Towson, says she has mace just in case someone tried to rob her. “When I get out of the car I just hold it like this and switch it on in case I get attacked,” said Beard.
Police say they plan to have a holiday patrol in the area as part of their normal ramp up for the shopping season.
