With the Baltimore Grand Prix now just two weeks away, organizers are in overdrive. They're building a two-mile track on downtown city streets and preparing for 130,000 fans.
On Thursday Marco Andretti, whose famous motorsports family is promoting the event, was downtown talking about his expectations. He has raced all three years of the Baltimore Grand Prix.
"I think it's going to be a heck of a show for the fans," Andretti said. "We're a lot more comfortable with this place now and it's going to produce some great racing."
When the race got off the ground three years ago it proved to be a financial wreck for organizers. Now a new team of developers believes the race is back on track. Organizers aren't talking about the number of tickets they've sold for this event but they're saying they expect about the same number of people this year than last year.
