Breaking Bad Star Bryan Cranston to be Honored by Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation

Updated: Monday, April 28 2014, 07:17 PM EDT

Star of "Breaking Bad," Bryan Cranston will be honored by the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation at its annual Aspire Gala in Baltimore on February 13, 2015.

The award-winning actor is being recognized for his efforts and advocacy in child safety education, including his previous work to help keep children safe from abductions and other hazards.

"We are proud to honor Bryan not only for his respected acting career, but most admirably, his efforts to bring light to the importance of child safety education," said Steve Salem, president of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation. "Bryan was introduced to the CRSF years ago by our then-board chairman, Robbie Callaway, and the three of us have remained close over the years. Robbie and I were in New York City with Bryan last week, and are thrilled that our friend will be back with us next February."

Cranston is best known for portraying Walter White in the drama Breaking Bad, and Hal in the Fox comedy series Malcolm in the Middle.

The Aspire Gala is in its 11th year. In 2014, the Aspire Gala raised $2.3 million used to help teach critical life lessons to underserved young people using baseball- and softball-themed programs.
