Cal Ripken Jr. Announces $100,000 Reward in Mother's Abduction Case

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 09:18 PM EDT

Cal Ripken Jr. on Thursday announced a $100,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the suspect who abducted his mother from her Harford County home last July.

On July 24, 2012 Violet Ripken was forced her into her own Lincoln Town Car by a man hiding in her garage. The suspect tied her up and drove around Maryland for nearly 24 hours before dropping her off unharmed less than a half-mile from her home.

Though police released a sketch and surveillance footage of the suspect at a Wal-Mart in Glen Burnie, the case still remains unsolved a year later. Police have received numerous tips, but say nothing has panned out. Anyone with information should call police.
