CCBC Owings Mills Extension Center Opens

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 10:18 PM EDT

Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz joined CCBC President Dr. Sandra Kurtinitis to open the Community College of Baltimore County's new Owings Mills extension center on Monday.

CCBC Owings Mills is a six-story, 120,000 square foot building in the Metro Centre at Owings Mills. CCBC Owings Mills shares the building with the largest branch of the Baltimore County Public Library.

"Bringing the Community College and public library together into one County Campus building creates a learning center with shared resources," Kevin Kamenetz said. "We're thrilled to have education as the centerpiece of this dynamic transit oriented development in Owings Mills."

CCBC Owings Mills occupies floors four through six of the County Campus building, with shared meeting and conference room space on the third floor. The facility includes 17 state-of-the-art classrooms, 12 computer labs, three corporate training rooms, plus a science, art and hospitality lab.

Enrollment at the Owings Mills area was beyond the capacity of its current Owings Mills extension center, Kurtinitis said. The additional space will allow the college to serve its growing enrollment.

CCBC Owings Mills classes start at County Campus July 8, 2013.
