One child was killed and eight were injured after tree branches fell on them at a campsite in Manchester, Maryland during Tuesday's storm.
The incident happened in the 4400 block of Grave Run Road around 7 p.m. at the River Valley Ranch. A fire official confirmed that a strong and sudden storm passing through the area caused multiple tree branches and debris to fall on the children.
Six other injured children were all taken to local hospitals with minor injuries. Officials treated two additional students on the scene. All of the other injured children are expected to be ok.
Parents have been notified to pick up their children attending the Arrowhead Woods and Fort Roller camps. Teenagers have been allowed to remain on campus. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating the incident.
