Abandoned House Threatening West Baltimore Homeowner

Updated: Thursday, July 10 2014, 08:27 AM EDT
A Baltimore homeowner says living next to a vacant house has turned her life into a nightmare.

Karen Brown owns a home one Harlem Avenue in West Baltimore and for seven years has been calling the city about the rotting property next door.

Brown says the owner of the home hasn't been seen in almost seven years and is only known by neighbors as Mr. Carter. Brown says the overgrowth and massive trees from Mr. Carter's property is constantly damaging her property.

What was once only a nuisance has now become a danger. "If you look at the angle the way it's standing it will fall directly on my home," Brown said, referring to a large tree in the lot next door.

The city says code enforcement will be out on Thursday and if they deem the tree to be dangerous, they will take care of the problem.

In the meantime, a Fox45 viewer has come forward to help Brown cut down the tree that fell onto her fence during Tuesday night's storm. Abandoned House Threatening West Baltimore Homeowner
