Updated: Tuesday, September 2 2014, 06:23 PM EDT

The CEO of a catering company used by the Baltimore Convention Center has resigned following animal cruelty allegations.

Centerplate CEO Desmond Hague resigned once surveillance video from inside an elevator surfaced, allegedly showing him abusing a small dog. Centerplate chefs cater events at the Baltimore Convention Center -- everything from tradeshows to corporate meetings. But there have been demands to boycott Centerplate's catering services after the graphic video emerged online.

The abuse was caught on surveillance video inside an elevator at a hotel in Vancouver. On the video a man, allegedly Hague, is seen repeatedly kicking a young Doberman Pinscher and pulling it by its leash.

Hague has since apologized: saying he is "ashamed and embarrassed." The dog, named Sade, has been removed from his care.

Centerplate has more than 300 venues in North America, including some major sports stadiums. No company reps in Baltimore would talk on camera about what happened.
