A portion of the roof at a Lancaster, PA television station collapsed Friday afternoon, forcing an evacuation of the employees.
According to WGAL around 3:20 p.m. their newsroom employees heard a “thunderous boom.” The station said the collapse happened in an adjacent studio that is no longer in use.
Around 4 p.m. fire officials ordered around 100 people to evacuate the structure.
WGAL said inspection revealed that a concrete support beam and slab had shifted and dropped, compromising the entire roof of the building.
WGAL is continuing to provide online updates and said it is unclear when staff will be allowed back in the building.
