Mayor Under Scrutiny for Providing Hundreds of Events Tickets to Friends and Families

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 09:22 PM EDT
In emails that have gone
back and forth between the mayor's office and the company that manages
1st Mariner Arena, you can see the mayor has taken full advantage of
this ticket perk.

But now the mayor is facing criticism because
there are no policies or procedures in place that dictate how the mayor
doles out the tickets and who should receive them.

"When it's
family and friends its one thing but if it's the situation of
contractors doing business with the other city elected officials, you're
trying to schmooze. That's where you cross the slippery slope and it's
something she needs to keep her antenna on much higher, as far as
something like this," said political expert John Dedie.

An expert
told Fox45 today that the mayor may have violated the city's code of
ethics when she gave family members tickets to some of the hottest shows
in town because you cannot use city property for personal gain.

an email from April of last year, a rep for the company that manages
1st Mariner Arena clearly indicated how she has five great seats for the
mayor's husband.

Under an agreement between the city owned
arena and the company contracted to manage it, the mayor is entitled to
tickets to events in the city.
