Apple Dealing with New Data Glitch

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 09:24 PM EDT
Apple is contending with another glitch in its newest phone that could be running up your cell phone bill.

Apple has now confirmed that there is a bug in the iPhone 5 that is causing the phones to consume major amounts of cell data. The consumption is even happening when the phones are plugged into a Wi-Fi network, resulting in big overages as customers blow though their monthly data caps.

Apple has not commented on how widespread the problem might be, but it pushed out a software update over the weekend that is supposed to fix the problem.

So far the bug has been a problem for Verizon users and possibly AT&T.

Apple is already dealing with complaints over the new mapping system, which appears to be full of geographical errors. The company apologized for that the issue last week.Apple Dealing with New Data Glitch
