Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 09:24 PM EDT
The holidays are a prime time for online shopping and everyone’s looking for a steal, including scammers.

Internet security company McAfee has released a list of the most dangerous online scams, and this holiday season, a few stand out.

Listed at number one on the list are social media scams. Criminals know that Facebook is an easy place to catch users off guard since many users trust their friends.

Mobile devices can also be a target of holiday scamming, coming in at number two on McAfee’s list. Scammers use malicious mobile apps to lure a user into revealing information.

New this year is the Skype message scare. Scammers are targeting people who use Skype to connect with loved ones. The scammers will send you a message that attempts to infect your machine and even hold your files for ransom.
