The University of Rochester looked at 160,000 online orders to a North Carolina pizza chain over the course of 4 1/2 years. Under the cloak of online anonymity came orders with higher costs and more calories. The same online tools to load more toppings on pizza, can easily be used to customize a healthier meal.
With a few clicks, you can take off sauces and substitute healthier sides. For bigger portions, put half to the side as soon as it arrives that cuts calories and turns one meal into two, or possibly three -- and adds more bang and less bulk for the buck.
