12 adults and children in stable condition after a 3 vehicle collision in Westminster
WESTMINSTER, Md. (WBFF) -- On Saturday evening, a total of 12 adults and children were injured in a multi vehicle collision in Westminster, according to Maryland State Police.
At approximately 6:00 p.m., Troopers of the Maryland State Police Westminster Barrack along with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, State Highway Administration and Taneytown Volunteer Fire Department responded to a collision located Eastbound on MD Route 140, Taneytown Pike west of Mayberry Road, in Westminster.
The preliminary investigation has revealed a 2011 Nissan Sentra was traveling eastbound on MD Route 140 in lane 1 when the driver failed to control its speed, striking a 2006 GMC Van, which subsequently struck a 2006 Honda Civic.

Vehicle 1 passenger – Female juvenile, 11, of Westminster, MD
Vehicle 1 passenger – Male juvenile, 8, of Westminster, MD
Vehicle 1 passenger – Male juvenile, 5, of Westminster, MD
Vehicle 1 passenger – Male juvenile, 11 mo, of Westminster, MD
Vehicle 2 driver – Male Juvenile, 17, of Windsor Mill, MD
Vehicle 2 passenger – Hector Alvarez, 37, of Windsor Mill, MD
Vehicle 2 passenger – Male juvenile, 11, of Windsor Mill, MD
Vehicle 2 passenger – Armando Alvarez, 42, of Windsor Mill, MD
Vehicle 2 passenger – Jose Galvan, 64, Windsor Mill, MD
Vehicle 3 driver – Jdan Vaughn, 18, of Randallstown, MD
Medical treatment was provided at the scene.
All occupants of Vehicle 1 were taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, four by air and two by ground. One occupant of Vehicle 2 was taken to Carroll Hospital.
All occupants transported are reported to be in stable condition.
Eastbound and Westbound MD Route 140 were closed approximately for two hours for the investigation and cleanup of the roadway.
Police say traffic was diverted onto Mayberry Road to utilize Old Taneytown Pike.
Charges for accused driver Crystal Rich, 32, of Westminster, are pending due to initial investigation showing possible signs of impairment from the at fault driver.
This investigation is ongoing.
