2 dead in wrong way crash on I-695
BALTIMORE (WBFF) -- Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on I-695 early Thursday morning after a driver heading the wrong direction struck a car head-on.
Police say at around 2 a.m. they received calls for a car traveling the wrong way on I-695 near I-795. A short time later, they received a call of a crash on inner loop I-695 at Liberty Road involving two cars.
Police say Jorene Long, 88, of York, PA was driving a 2003 Subaru Forester when she entered the inner loop of I-695 headed in the wrong direction and struck an oncoming car head-on. Long was pronounced dead on the scene.
She struck a 2017 Ford Focus driven by Sedrick L. Beasley, 54, of Edgewood, Harford County. He was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Long’s left her residence yesterday afternoon to run an errand, but never returned. She was reported missing to police in Pennsylvania.
The investigation is ongoing.
