2 slain as violent trend continues in Baltimore
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore police say two men have been slain as the city continues to experience an increase in violent crime.
Police say a man was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in east Baltimore, near Johns Hopkins Hospital. The man was shot several times and died at a hospital.
Early Sunday morning, police say a man was fatally stabbed, also in east Baltimore. The man was wounded in the neck and stomach and died at a hospital. The stabbing took place about 2 1/2 miles away from the later slaying. Police have not indicated that the two crimes are related.
Violent crime has increased in Baltimore since April, when the death of Freddie Gray in police custody led to unrest among city residents. Six police officers have been charged in Gray's death.
