Firefighter injured in 3-alarm SW Baltimore fire
BALTIMORE (WBFF)- Baltimore City firefighters were called to the scene of a 3-alarm fire early Friday morning, at 510 South Monroe Street between Wilkens Avenue and Eagle Street in Southwest Baltimore.
Fire officials say the call came out at 3:28 a.m. for reports of a fire in a vacant warehouse.
When firefighters arrived they observed heavy smoke and fire coming from the 3-story building, the former home of the Royal Furniture Company which closed in 1997.
The blaze caused several nearby roads to close and morning commuters were asked to avoid the area.
According to the Baltimore City Fire Dept., one firefighter sustained minor injuries.
The fire was brought under control around 7:32 a.m.
