3 weeks on, officials push FBI to lead Suiter probe
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - There are more calls for the FBI to take over the death investigation of Baltimore City Police Detective Sean Suiter.
On Wednesday, Mayor Catherine Pugh confirmed that the Baltimore City Council, along with Baltimore’s state and congressional delegations, have made similar requests.
Suiter was shot and killed while investigating a homicide in west Baltimore three weeks ago. So far, city police have made no arrests and have produced only a vague description of a suspect.
Former Police Commissioner Ed Norris says asking a federal agency to take over a local case is an unusual move.
“They don’t investigate murders routinely. That’s not an FBI function,” said Norris. “I’d put a good homicide detective up against any FBI agent, because they do it all the time.”
