ANTI-RAY LEWIS PETITION | "I want the Ravens to understand how badly this hurts'
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Attention has turned in recent days to Ravens legend Ray Lewis, who was on two knees Sunday in London.
FOX45's Paul Gessler spoke with the man calling for the removal of Lewis' statue, on behalf of some fans.
Eric Moniodis wrote a letter to Ravens president Steve Bisciotti. It's posted on the petition website Change.org, asking the Ravens to remove the Ray Lewis statue at M&T Bank Stadium.
"I mainly created this because i want the Ravens to understand how badly this hurts to our moral core," explained Moniodis.
By Wednesday afternoon, the petition had well over 35,000 electronic signatures.
The statue was put up three years ago after the linebacker retired, a two-time Super Bowl champ.
Lewis explained that he fell to two knees Sunday not to protest but to pray.
Moniodis said he doesn't intend for this to be political.
He wasn't a big fan of President Trump's comments Friday that appeared to fuel Sunday's demonstrations.
In his mind, this is about honoring our nation's military.
