Baltimore-area home sale prices for August at highest level since 2008
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Baltimore-area housing sales for August were at their highest level since 2008, according to a new report.
The median sales price for a home in the area was $265,000, and 3,804 homes were sold, up by 1.5 percent from this time last year and 6 percent from last month, according to an analysis by Bright MLS.
In 2008, the median sales price for a home was $271,000, and 2,140 units were sold at the time. Sales across the area totalled $1.2 billion, up 7.3 percent from last year.
All counties except Baltimore City saw an increase in year-over-year median sales prices. Baltimore City had the cheapest average housing stock, and year-over-year sales prices fell by 3.5 percent, from $133,700 to $129,000.
Harford County had the greatest increase, with the average price up 8.7 percent, from $243,900 to $265,000.
Howard County remains the most expensive jurisdiction, with the average house price at $410,000.
The data was prepared by ShowingTime, a software and market stats service provider to the residential real estate industry.
