Baltimore City Police officer shot while answering a knock at his front door
WOODLAWN, Md. (WBFF) -- A 29-year veteran with the Baltimore Police Department is recovering after being shot while answering a knock at his front door.
The off duty officer was at his Woodlawn home in Baltimore County when the shooting occurred Wednesday night around 11:20 p.m.
"The victim went to answer a knock at his front door but was shot through the door before opening it. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to survive his injury...Detectives do not believe the shooting is connected to any criminal activity on the part of the victim." -Baltimore County Police
A day later, shattered glass still covered the officer's front steps.
Detectives have yet to release a motive but appear to be leaning towards this being a targeted incident.
Baltimore County Police spokeswoman Elise Armacost says, "They're anxious to talk with the victim to get a better sense of who we're looking for, and getting someone in custody."
