Community mourns boy killed in Arnold by driver
ARNOLD, Md. (WBFF) - In Anne Arundel County, a man is charged with reckless driving after police say he struck and killed a 12-year-old boy.
Officers recovered a smoking device that appeared to have crack cocaine, noted Anne Arundel police spokesperson Marc Limansky.
Flowers and other mementos were left at the scene of the crash as friends and family gathered Monday to remember Matthew Murphy.
Investigators say Michael Gauthier was driving a work van Sunday on Bay Green Drive in Arnold when he drove off the road.
Police say he hit the boy as he was walking home with his mother and brother.
Paramedics flew the child to the hospital but later died.
Gauthier faces charges of manslaughter, reckless driving and possessing drugs.
