Construction starts at 'Circle East' mixed-use project in central Towson
TOWSON, Md. (WBFF) - Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz joined development representatives to break ground on Circle East, a major mixed-use project at Towson Circle.
The development is on the site of the shopping center that previously held Trader Joe's and Barnes & Noble.
It's set to feature a 371-unit apartment complex, plus 240,000 square feet of retail.
It's one of several major new developments set for the Joppa Road corridor, including the Loch Raven Commons project.
Kamenetz was joined by representatives from RPAI and AvalonBay for the groundbreaking.
"With Circle East starting construction, downtown Towson continues its dynamic growth as a vibrant place to live, work and enjoy life. We've seen more than $1 billion in recent private investment in downtown Towson, adding jobs and economic vitality to the Baltimore County seat," said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz in a news release Tuesday.
