DIGITAL DEBATE | What will the end of 'net neutrality' bring?
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - A Baltimore entrepreneur predicts small businesses will suffer the most from the FCC’s repeal of net neutrality.
“The start-up is on a shoestring and cannot compete,” said Deb Tillett, President of Baltimore’s Emerging Technologies Center, which helps start-up businesses get off the ground.
The FCC’s repeal of net neutrality gives internet service providers control of the content consumers read, the speed they receive it and the price they pay for it.
Supporters predict the FCC’s action will open the marketplace and boost the economy.
Tillett, however, fears it may actually shrink the marketplace.
“There won’t be businesses that will be able to start so the next innovations could potentially not happen, “ said Tillett.
Legal action is already underway to stop the action.
