Puppy found 'discarded' in storage container now on the mend: Police
COLUMBIA, Md. (WBFF) – A puppy was found apparently discarded and left for dead inside a plastic storage container in Columbia over the weekend and investigators are urging the public to come forward with information.
Police were called by a Braeburn Road resident on March 25 around 4 p.m. who reported finding the container in a grassy area.
The container had holes drilled in the top and the resident told officers that she found an emaciated puppy inside which couldn’t stand or move.
Animal control responded and transported the dog, a 10-week old brindle pit bull, to an emergency vet.
According to police the puppy was extremely malnourished, had open wounds and missing fur, and was covered in urine and feces.
On Monday officials said the puppy -- nicknamed "Eddy" -- is responding well to treatment and will be available for adoption after a lengthy recovery process.
Anyone with information about the dog’s owner, and/or the person(s) who discarded him is asked to call Animal Control at 410-313-2780 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
