2018 IN BALTIMORE | Day: 1, Homicides: 2
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Baltimore saw two homicides on the first day of 2018, after three people were shot in two separate shootings on the afternoon of Jan. 1.
The first was reported at about 3:40 p.m. in south Baltimore's Mt. Clare area, on Eagle Street near the Monroe Street/Wilkens Avenue intersection.
A man was found shot in the neck. The victim was taken to Shock Trauma in critical condition. He died a short time later.
Just two hours later, two people were found shot in a car in a parking lot by the Parkside Shopping Center, on Goodnow Road, in the northeast.
At 5:45 p.m., the two male victims were found sitting in a white Infiniti.
The 30-year-old driver had been shot in the head and torso; he was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead shortly after.
A 36-year-old passenger was found shot in the hip. He was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Baltimore finished 2017 with 343 murders, the highest per-capita in city history.
Baltimore police spokesperson Jarron Jackson wrote in a tweet: "Praying for my City. Baltimore is my home. I'm tired of seeing families torn apart by senseless violence. It has to stop"
