Gubernatorial candidates come out to Young Voters forum at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. (WBFF) - Election season is slowly starting to take shape. Several Democratic primary candidates for governor took part in a forum at Goucher College in Towson today.

The Young Voters event was held Friday in the Hyman Forum of the Athenaeum on campus.

Ben Jealous, Alec Ross, state Sen. Richard Madaleno, Jim Shea, Baltimore County executive Kevin Kamenetz, Krish Vignarajah and Ralph Jaffe attended.

Each wants to be the Democratic nominee to run against Republican incumbent Larry Hogan.

The candidates were given time to introduce themselves, then they took questions from the audience.

Students are looking for ideas and solutions to problems facing young people and others around the state.

"We also recognize that people face different struggles and life experiences depending on their identity. These concerns should be heard and considered by our candidates," said a student.

Students plan to hold a forum for Republican candidates for governor if they're able to do so.

And there are plans for a Young Voters forum for the general election.
