'HEARTBREAKING' | Smoke still pouring from destroyed Perryville building
PERRYVILLE -- Four people were taken to hospitals Sunday morning after a fire at a Cecil County apartment building.
Neighbors said the fire started in a third floor condo of the Owens Landing Court building. The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation, Senior Deputy State Fire Marshal Oliver Alkire said Monday.
Fireboats with Charlestown and Susquehanna Hose Companies are creditted with helping contain the fire to the one building.
"It is, without a doubt, without those two hose companies, we could have easily lost both buildings on either side of this structure," Alkire said.
A 93-year-old woman who lived in one of the units was rescued and taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
Dozens were displaced from the fire that caused an estimated $2 million in damage.
