'Heavy' police activity, schools on alert after armed robbery in Owings Mills' New Town

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (WBFF) - New Town Elementary and High School were placed on alert status after a midday armed robbery at a nearby Chinese restaurant, reported Baltimore County police.

China Wok was robbed before 2 p.m., on Groffs Mill Drive in the New Town Village Center shopping plaza, reported police.

No injuries were reported in the robbery but police were still searching for a robber.

"Heavy police presence" remained in the area.

The alert status for the schools was lifted by 2 p.m.

The Owings Mills New Town Association was reporting other recent armed robberies in the area.
