Police search for clues after driver found fatally shot in cab in McElderry Park
BALTIMORE (WBFF) -- A 44-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso was found inside a cab in McElderry Park early Monday morning.
Detectives were called to the scene, on Jefferson Street near N Rose Street, around 12:55 a.m. Police say the victim was found inside a vehicle that struck a parked vehicle.
The victim was transported to a hospital and pronounced deceased. He's since been identified by co-workers as Michael 'Akin' Omoregie, a cab driver with the Red Ball Cab Company.
"This investigation revealed that an unidentified suspect approached the victim, shooting him several times before fleeing the area in an unknown direction of travel," police wrote in a release.
Omoregie's manager, Don Roberts says he's lost his co-worker and friend, and he, like police, family and community members, want answers.
"He was a good man, he didn't deserve to die like this," Roberts says. "These kids out here want to come in here and kill people for no reason. They had no right to kill that man. He had two young kids. I don't understand it. And it's getting worse out here."
Detective Donny Moses says, ""Witnesses were not located, the street was relatively empty. Our homicide detectives responded out, they did the door to door canvas, all of that yielded no information."
