Ivan Bates, of Freddie Gray-case fame, challenges Mosby in State Attorney's race
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - A criminal defense attorney in Baltimore City announced plans to give Marilyn Mosby a run for her position as top prosecutor.
Ivan Bates told Fox45's Crime & Justice Reporter Joy Lepola: "Our city crime is absolutely out of control and the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office is in total disarray."
Bates spent six years as a prosecutor in Baltimore. One of the most high-profile cases Bates was involved in as a defense attorney was representing Sgt. Alicia White in the Freddie Gray case.
Charges were dropped prior to White standing trial. From his Locust Point home, Bates explained how he was going to be tough but also compassionate.
Bates, who served in the U.S. Army, says he looks forward to the opportunity of serving his City and residents.
Fox45 did request a sit-down interview with City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby. We have yet to hear back on the request.
