LAUREL OR YANNY? | Why we're hearing different things

BALTIMORE (WBFF) - It's the recording that's been friends, families, even co-workers today.

Do you hear Laurel? Or is it Yanny?

FOX45's Shelley Orman spoke with a local audiologist for a medical take on why people seem to be hearing completely different things.

Timonium audiologist Sofia Roller says the Yanny-Laurel debate is captivating even professionals.

She explains the differences could depend on a number of factors, like pitch, age/hearing ability, the medium on which you're hearing the recording and even how individual brains process pitch.

And, in case you were wondering, the original creator of the recording told the New York Times that the word is actually: Laurel.
