ARREST IN MALL ASSAULT: Columbia woman charged in attacking mall employee

COLUMBIA, Md. (WBFF) - A Columbia woman accused of attacking a mall carousel employee has been arrested, said Howard County police.

Ahleyah Marie Rockwell, 22, of Skyrock Court in Columbia, is the suspect in the case.

She was arrested Friday morning and charged with robbery, theft and multiple counts of assault.

The assault happened at the Island Carousel in the Columbia Mall at 4 p.m. on Aug. 5.

A witness told police the suspect reached into the carousel register and stole cash. When an employee confronted her, the suspect threatened the employee and assaulted her.

Surveillance video released by police shows the suspect grabbing the victim by the hair and pulling her to the ground.

The suspect also bit the victim's hand, and the victim was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. The suspect then fled through the food court.

She is identified only as a black female, ages 20 to 25 years old and wearing a dark-colored shirt and pants.
