Man charged with human trafficking in Howard County

Howard County Police have arrested a man accused of forcing at least four women into prostitution.

Kamal Germaine Dorchy, 43, of Baltimore faces multiple counts of human trafficking and is being held at the Howard County Detention Center without bond.

Police responded to a motel in the 9800 block of Washington Boulevard in Laurel July 23 for a theft report.

Once on scene officers located a woman who appeared to be a victim of human trafficking and prostitution, according to police.

Detectives were able to identify Dorchy as a suspect and located him after he rented out a Prince George's County motel room.

Officers responded to the motel and located three additional women ages 17-24 who also appeared to be victims of human trafficking and prostitution.

It is believed that Dorchy set up appointments at motels, forced the women to perform sex acts for money, then would take half of the money made, police said in a release.

Police also stated Dorchy posted ads of the victims on Backpage, a site known for prostitution, controlled when the women ate and slept, threatened them with a gun and gave them drugs.

The victims have been offered support services.

Police are continuing to investigate Dorchy and his possible connection to additional victims. Anyone with information should call 410-313-STOP or email
