Police: man robbed, shot in chest by "hack" driver

BALTIMORE (WBFF) -- A man taking a ‘hack’ was robbed then shot in north Baltimore Thursday night, less than an hour before a 72-hour ceasefire was set to begin in the city.

Police say the 37-year-old victim walked into a hospital at around 11:15 p.m. suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police say the victim was in a “hack,” or an unlicensed cab, when the driver took the victim to Druid Hill Park. The driver of the hack then robbed the victim of his money and cell phone, then shot him in the chest, police say.

The incident occurred less than an hour before the city was set to begin a ceasefire for 72-hours. Organizers have been spreading the word all over the city of “nobody kill anybody" for several weeks. The ceasefire ends on Sunday, August 6th.

The cease fire comes on the heels of 208 homicides in Baltimore so far in 2017.
