Maryland trooper struck by car while assisting in an arrest
CENTREVILLE, Md. (AP) —
Maryland police say a trooper was injured after being struck by a car while on duty.
Police say First Sergeant John Beville, a 14-year veteran of the Maryland State Police, was assisting with the arrest of an armed robbery suspect when he was struck by a 62-year-old man on Friday. Beville was taken by helicopter to Shock Trauma, where he's being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police say Beville saw the robbery suspect on the shoulder of Route 404 running east and chased him across the road on foot. Police say Beville was still in the road when the passenger side of a 2012 Nissan pickup truck struck him as it was driving by. The driver stayed on the scene, and the suspect was taken into custody.
