Millions of gallons of sewage released into Baltimore's waterways

BALTIMORE, Md. (WBFF) -- The city confirms that 7.6 million gallons of raw sewage has overflowed into area waterways.

The heavy rains from the past weekend are being blamed for the overflow at four different rain soaked sewer locations in Baltimore.

One of them is along Falls Road where the sewage covered a popular biking and running trail and flowed into the Jones Falls.

“Occasionally you’ll get a waft,” said Jessica Locke who regularly jogs through the area.

The city of Baltimore is now repairing the aging infrastructure and is under a federal consent decree to complete repairs by the year 2020.
