Morgan State U. calls murder of student "a true loss"
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - A 19-year-old Morgan State University was fatally shot in northeast Baltimore's Belair-Edison area Monday night, and the college is joining those mourning his death.
"The unfortunate death of this promising student is a true loss," said spokesperson Larry Jones in a statement Friday.
Jonathan Tobash was a sophomore, majoring in industrial engineering, said the university. He lived on 5th Street in Brooklyn, said police.
"The Morgan State University family is very saddened to have learned of the tragedy involving student Jonathan Tobash," said Jones in the statement. "We extend our condolences to Jonathan's family and friends along with our hope that those responsible for his death are brought swiftly to justice."
Tobash died after being shot at about 10:50 p.m. on Dec. 18 on Pelham Avenue at Brehms Lane, reported city police.
He was found shot in the torso, and was taken to an area hospital, where he died.
