Motorcyclist, 24, killed in collision near Cecil County Landfill

ELKTON, Md. (WBFF) – A man riding a motorcycle in Elkton died on Thursday morning after he crashed into a truck turning into a landfill facility, according to state troopers.

A Maryland State Police spokesperson said the man, identified as John Anthony Ferrara, 24, was passing cars on a Kawasaki motorcycle while crossing the double-yellow center line of E. Old Philadelphia Road and “traveling at a high rate of speed” right before the crash.

He then collided with a Mac Truck turning left into the Cecil County Landfill. He was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck was identified as 47-year-old John Lee Quirk, Jr., of Delaware. Ferrara was declared the at-fault driver in the crash.

Troopers from the Maryland State Police Crash Team and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division responded to the scene and investigated the accident.
