Orioles criticized for "Happy Kwanzaa" post
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - A Facebook video wishing everyone a happy Kwanzaa drew a small backlash for the Baltimore Orioles.
The Orioles posted the video Tuesday morning, the first day of the holiday.
Some on Facebook didn't like the message, blasting the Orioles for recognizing what they called a "made-up holiday" or for being politically correct.
The Orioles responded with a message saying: "A common love of the Orioles is what brings everyone together on this page. We’re happy to have a diverse fan base of the best fans in the world. If you cannot show respect for others, kindly unfollow us. There is no room for hate or bigotry on our social media pages or in our ballpark."
Kwanzaa, which lasts seven days, was created by a professor in 1966 to celebrate African-American culture and community.
