Man shot in the head, killed on York Road; police find a gun in the victim's waistband
BALTIMORE, Md. (WBFF) -- Police are looking for the gunman who shot and killed a man in north Baltimore Saturday.
Officers were called to the corner of York Road and Willow Avenue after reports of a shooting. When police arrived to the scene they say they found a man with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The shooting happened just feet from a barbershop that was open and filled with more than a dozen people.
Donald Myers was one of them.
“It was maybe two minutes after I walked in,” said Donald Myers, who heard the gunshots. “Thank God there was nobody in the front here. Maybe 5-6 gunshots went off.”
Broken glass shows where one bullet went through a front window, ripped through a hanging flag, and then went across the receptionist area.
“There were two little kids there and a gentleman sitting on the couch,” explained Myers. “Thank God they got up and left.”
Police searched the area for a gunman but no immediate arrests were made.
Investigators have not yet released the victim’s name or a potential motive in the shooting.
Police said they did find a gun in the victim’s waistband that will be submitted as evidence in the case.
