Aberdeen Police: Two rapes in 24 hrs
ABERDEEN (WBFF)-- Police in Aberdeen are asking for the public's help identifying a sexual predator. Two women have reported rapes in the area in a 24-hour-period.
Police think the same suspect is responsible for both attacks.
On Sunday, September 10, 2017 night, police were called for a reported rape on Carol Avenue. Arriving officers met with a female victim who alleged she was raped and robbed at knife point. The victim was transported to Harford Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The victim told police she'd been attacked after meeting a man she'd been talking to on Backpage, an online classified website.
Around 9:00pm on Monday, September 11, 2017 police were notified of an attempted sexual assault and robbery on Liberty Street. Once on scene, officers found a woman suffering from lacerations, a puncture wound to her stomach, and a head injury. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Detectives interviewed the second victim who described her attacker as a black male in his 20's, thin build, approximately 5'10" tall with dark brown skin. He was wearing a grey pull over hooded sweatshirt and dark colored pants. His hood was pulled up over his head, but it appeared that he had short hair.
Investigators determined that victim had also arranged to meet the suspect after an encounter on Backpage.
Both victims have been treated and released from the hospital.
