Sheriff's Deputy injured after being pulled by vehicle during arrest; suspect at large

PASADENA, Md. (WBFF) -- Anne Arundel County Sheriff's Office are searching for two people who pulled a sheriff's deputy with their car after the deputy attempted to arrest the passenger, on Saturday afternoon.

Sheriff's Office update from last nights incident:

Melissa Andrea Day - a Black Female born 8/12/1971 with the last known address of McBride Lane in Severna Park

David Gale Waid - a White Male born 10/11/1975; 5'8 140 lbs. and his last known is address 1303 Riverwood Way Stoney Beach

Both of these subjects have active warrants for their arrest.

On October 7, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a deputy was driving in the area of Magothy Bridge Road in Pasadena.

The deputy observed a female in the passenger seat of a vehicle who was wanted for multiple warrants.

The female, Melissa Andrea Day of 402 McBride Lane in Severna Park, was wanted on three Circuit Court warrants and one District Court warrant.

The deputy approached the stopped vehicle and attempted to arrest Day and was able to get one handcuff on Day before the driver accelerated and began to drive off.

The deputy was pulled for a considerable distance by the vehicle and suffered injuries to his head and body.

Police say the deputy was transported to Shock Trauma and is recovering.

After fleeing the scene, Day and the driver parked the car and were last seen running away.

A search of the area was conducted by multiple agencies, including Anne Arundel County Police, Maryland State Police and the Sheriff's Office.

The subject and driver have not been apprehended.
